In 2022, I worked with Blu Fable to film Project Griot: LA - a documentary created for the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. After I designed the project logo, designed their printed materials, and familiarized myself with Blu Fable's unique camera setup, we got to work arranging the 8 group sessions that would provide the main content for the video.

During the sessions, we had 16 individuals attend and share their experiences of what it means to be Black and queer. After each group session, I interviewed participants on a variety of topics: faith, family, identity, relationships, race, gender, mental well-being, and the importance of community.

As you can imagine, everyone had quite a lot to share! We had our work cut out for us by the time we brought all our footage into the editing room. But it was a labor of love, carefully reviewing everyone's testimonies, narrowing down the best soundbites, choosing the most appropriate music & b-roll, and weaving it all into one cohesive, impactful narrative:
